transportation in preschool three classes

The curriculum here at St. Paul’s Lutheran Preschool is centered around the Illinois State Early Learning Standards.  The standards are broken up into different learning areas or domains.  Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Physical Development and health, the arts, social/emotional development and English as a second language.  throughout the year we have a theme for the month that focus on each domain.

The domain of Language Arts includes preschool benchmarks in listening, speaking, reading and writing developmentally appropriate for each child as an individual.  The three-year-old curriculum introduces each child to the written word and identifying their name and repeating letter sounds.

This week we have been working on rainbow color order red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.  As we are also talking about transportation we made a train with all seven days of the week on each car.  The students are now also putting the days of the week in order behind the engine.  Learning standard 1.A Demonstrate understanding through age-appropriate responses.  Preschool benchmark 1.A.ECa follow simple one, two and three step directions.  1.A.ECb Respond appropriately to questions from others.  1.A.
