3rd & 4th Grade News 5-1-16

Dear Parents,

We will be doing our final rehearsals for the Variety Show this week and look forward to making you giggle a little at our comedy skit. **Please note, students should be in our classroom by 6:10pm, the Variety Show is at 6:30pm. (The school calendar shows the wrong start time)

We have just a little over 3 weeks left of the school year and we are winding down! You may see some school items start to come home as we finish up work for the year. Please remind students to continue to work hard preparing for their tests and completing homework. It can be tough to keep up motivation with Summer vacation just around the corner.

The Week of May 2-6: Looking Ahead…

Memory Work – “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12  DUE FRIDAY!

Religion – We will learn about Jesus feeding the 5,000 and Jesus walking on water.

Reading – We will continue to read Indian in the Cupboard, chapters 14 & 15. BOOK REPORTS DUE MONDAY!

English – For those who have to make up the English test, your test is Monday! We will then begin chapter 7.

Social Studies – We will continue Chapter 10 this week, Our Nation’s History.

Math 3rd graders – We got a little behind in math this past week, so we will start this week learning to tell time to the minute, rounding to the nearest hundred, and estimating sums & differences using 3-digit numbers. 4th graders will complete their Math review and take a test on Lessons 61-70 on TUESDAY!

Science –  We had a lot of fun watching chemical changes in Science this past week. Each group got to demonstrate a different chemical change including baking soda & vinegar, steel wool & vinegar, a cut apple, and bleach with colored water. We made predictions and recorded what actually happened. This week we will complete review questions and will take a TEST THURSDAY!

In Christ,

Mrs. Duensing & Mrs. DeBlieck
